In the 2019 Odisha Assembly elections, Purna Chandra Swain of BJD won in this constituency beating Nilamani Bisoyi of BJP by a margin of 13,996 votes which was 9.2% of the total votes cast. In 2014, Purna Chandra Swain of BJD was the winner in this seat beating Basanta Kumar Bisoyi of INC by a margin of 16,000 votes which was 11.67% of the total votes polled in the constituency. In the 2009 Assembly elections, Purna Chandra Swain of BJD won this seat defeating Nilamani Bisoyi of IND by a margin of 4,011 votes which was 3.74% of the total votes polled for the seat.
