Other Odisha Assembly constituencies adjacent to Rayagada are: Lanjigarh, Bissam Cuttack, Laxmipur. This constituency shares an inter-state border with: Andhra Pradesh.

Demographic profile

There were a total of 2,50,566 registered voters on the electoral rolls for the 2024 Assembly election, of which 1,18,323 were male, 1,32,146 female and 97 of the third gender. In the 2019 Assembly elections, there were a total of 2,37,289 registered voters, of which 1,18,323 were male, 1,24,639 female and 109 of the third gender. In 2014 elections, there were a total of 2,15,505 registered voters in this constituency, of which 1,03,450 were male, 1,12,004 female and 51 of the third gender. In the 2009 polls, the number of total electors was 1,95,727 which included 94,168 male, and 1,01,559 female.

In the 2019 Odisha Assembly elections, Makaranda Muduli of IND won in this constituency beating Lal Bihari Himirika of BJD by a margin of 4,870 votes which was 2.78% of the total votes cast. In 2014, Lalbihari Himirika of BJD was the winner in this seat beating Makaranda Muduli of INC by a margin of 8,286 votes which was 4.93% of the total votes polled in the constituency. In the 2009 Assembly elections, Lal Bihari Himirika of BJD won this seat defeating Ulaka Rama Chandra of INC by a margin of 15,661 votes which was 13.17% of the total votes polled for the seat.
