The geographic coordinates of Rajgangapur Assembly constituency are: 22°10'57.7"N 84°36'04.7"E. Rajgangapur shares its borders with six other Assembly constituencies. Other Odisha Assembly constituencies adjacent to Rajgangapur are: Talsara, Biramitrapur, Raghunathpali, Rourkela, Bonai, Kuchinda. This constituency shares an inter-state border with: Jharkhand.

Demographic profile

There were a total of 2,49,334 registered voters on the electoral rolls for the 2024 Ranjgangpur Assembly election, of which 1,22,521 were male, 1,26,784 female and 29 of the third gender. In the 2019 Assembly elections, there were a total of 2,52,976 registered voters, of which 1,22,521 were male, 1,26,848 female and 16 of the third gender. In 2014 elections, there were a total of 2,30,213 registered voters in this constituency, of which 1,16,362 were male, 1,13,850 female and 1 of the third gender. In the 2009 polls, the number of total electors was 1,89,380 which included 96,843 male, and 92,537 female.

The number of service voters in Ranjgangpur Assembly constituency was 627 in 2019, 181 in 2014 and 147 in 2009.

In the 2019 Odisha Assembly elections, C S Raazen Ekka of INC won in this constituency beating Mangala Kisan of BJD by a margin of 946 votes which was 0.54% of the total votes cast. In 2014, Mangala Kisan of BJD was the winner in this seat beating Gregory Minz of INC by a margin of 10,036 votes which was 6.29% of the total votes polled in the constituency. In the 2009 Assembly elections, Gregory Minz of INC won this seat defeating Benedict Tirkey of BJD by a margin of 4,115 votes which was 3.57% of the total votes polled for the seat.
