There were a total of 2,26,103 registered voters on the electoral rolls for the 2024 Assembly election, of which 1,16,941 were male, 1,09,152 female and 10 of the third gender. In the 2019 Assembly elections, there were a total of 2,17,523 registered voters, of which 1,16,941 were male, 1,03,610 female and 10 of the third gender. In 2014 elections, there were a total of 1,97,704 registered voters in this constituency, of which 1,05,263 were male, 92,435 female and 6 of the third gender. In the 2009 polls, the number of total electors was 1,79,787 which included 95,197 male, and 84,590 female.

In the 2019 Odisha Assembly elections, Shashi Bhusan Behera of BJD won in this constituency beating Ganeswar Behera of INC by a margin of 6,585 votes which was 4.35% of the total votes cast. In 2014, Kishore Chandra Tarai of BJD was the winner in this seat beating Ganeswar Behera of INC by a margin of 5,431 votes which was 3.92% of the total votes polled in the constituency. In the 2009 Assembly elections, Sipra Mallick of BJD won this seat defeating Ganeswar Behera of INC by a margin of 15,931 votes which was 13.42% of the total votes polled for the seat.
