Demographic profile

There were a total of 2,16,761 registered voters on the electoral rolls for the 2024 Assembly election, of which 1,12,828 were male, 1,03,913 female and 20 of the third gender. In the 2019 Assembly elections, there were a total of 2,14,881 registered voters, of which 1,12,828 were male, 1,02,014 female and 26 of the third gender. In 2014 elections, there were a total of 1,93,642 registered voters in this constituency, of which 1,03,125 were male, 90,513 female and 4 of the third gender. In the 2009 polls, the number of total electors was 1,83,377 which included 97,116 male, and 86,261 female.

In the 2019 Odisha Assembly elections, Prafulla Kumar Mallik of BJD won in this constituency beating Satrughan Jena of BJP by a margin of 16,509 votes which was 10.42% of the total votes cast. In 2014, Prafulla Kumar Mallik of BJD was the winner in this seat beating Bhabani Sankar Mohaptra of INC by a margin of 16,881 votes which was 11.47% of the total votes polled in the constituency. In the 2009 Assembly elections, Prafulla Kumar Mallik of BJD won this seat defeating Satrughan Jena of INC by a margin of 20,594 votes which was 17.28% of the total votes polled for the seat.
