Demographic profile

There were a total of 2,22,340 registered voters on the electoral rolls for the 2024 Assembly election, of which 1,12,336 were male, 1,09,999 female and 5 of the third gender. In the 2019 Assembly elections, there were a total of 2,21,469 registered voters, of which 1,12,336 were male, 1,07,135 female and 3 of the third gender. In 2014 elections, there were a total of 2,02,506 registered voters in this constituency, of which 1,07,772 were male, 94,732 female and 2 of the third gender. In the 2009 polls, the number of total electors was 1,89,144 which included 1,00,853 male, and 88,291 female.

In the 2019 Odisha Assembly elections, Snehangini Chhuria of BJD won in this constituency beating Milan Seth of BJP by a margin of 22,396 votes which was 13.06% of the total votes cast. In 2014, Snehangini Chhuria of BJD was the winner in this seat beating Nihar Ranjan Mahananda of INC by a margin of 25,474 votes which was 16.44% of the total votes polled in the constituency. In the 2009 Assembly elections, Nihar Ranjan Mahananda of INC won this seat defeating Snehangini Chhuria of BJD by a margin of 13,329 votes which was 10.7% of the total votes polled for the seat.
