This constituency covers an approximate area of 1290.47 square kilometers and the geographic coordinates of Valmiki Nagar is: 26°59'51.0"N 84°06'13.3"E.

In the 2020 Bihar Assembly elections, Dhirendra Pratap Singh Alias Rinku Singh of JDU won in this constituency beating Rajesh Singh of INC by a margin of 21585 votes which was 11.04% of the total votes cast. In 2015, Dhirendra Pratap Singh Alias Rinku Singh of IND was the winner in this seat beating Irshad Hussain of INC by a margin of 33580 votes which was 18.17% of the total votes polled in the constituency. In the 2010 Assembly elections, Rajesh Singh of JDU won this seat defeating Mukesh Kumar Kushwaha of RJD by a margin of 14671 votes which was 10.21% of the total votes polled for the seat.
