Bihar’s deputy chief minister and BJP leader was initially a minister in Rabri Devi’s government. In 2014, he became part of a rebel faction and joined the JD(U) government headed by Jitan Ram Manjhi, only to leave it three years later to join BJP. Choudhary hails from the crucial Koeri caste and is a prominent OBC face. In March 2023, he was made the Bihar BJP president in place of Sanjay Jaiswal.
